Dog Parks and Breweries: A Guided Tour to Home
"Tell us more about you. What do you like to do? Where do you like to go? What are your favorite types of food?"
A sample of the questions we ask new clients during our onboarding process. Their answers help us get to know them a bit more and provide insight into where and how they want to live. These questions are especially useful when engaging with new clients moving here from other places.
Over the past several months, we have had the privilege of serving doctors and their families who are considering relocating to Chicago for new positions with Northwestern Medicine. Dr. G and his wife were one of the first clients we met. We were introduced early in his interview process and set out to be a catalyst for their embrace of our city.
Proximity to the hospital campus, access to green space for their beloved pups and a condo in a vibrant neighborhood where they felt at ease topped their priorities. Breweries, Mexican food and margaritas were a close second.
The Guided Tour to Home
The couple, who lived in a suburban community in Kentucky, had friends in Chicago and had visited before, but possessed little knowledge of neighborhood nuances, commute patterns or housing options. Our team’s role was to bridge that gap, immersing them in the rhythm of city life amid property tours.
On their first visit, we embarked on a guided tour of their preferred neighborhoods, Lincoln Park and Lakeview. We explored distinct types of homes: walk-ups, townhomes and elevator buildings, while mapping out commute routes to Northwestern. We also took the time to talk through daily life: the feel of the neighborhoods, safety considerations, restaurants, park proximity, shopping and the little things that make a new city feel like home.
We closed the day with a personally curated list of dog parks, breweries and a sampling of local craft beer—hand-selected to give them a literal taste of their new hometown.
A few weeks later, with clarity on the market and an accepted offer in hand, we secured their ideal home: a top-floor Lakeview condo in an elevator building, complete with double balconies, just steps from the park. Even Lucy and Abby 🐶 🐶 seemed to approve, their barks echoing as we celebrated the win in a competitive spring market bidding war.
Despite a couple of moving-day glitches, our support ensured a smooth transition, allowing our clients to settle quickly and comfortably–margaritas in hand, happy pups at their feet.
Our commitment to clients goes beyond market expertise. We delight in creating welcoming, exceptional experiences that mark the beginning of meaningful new chapters.
