The Many Facets of Wealth
January 2025
I have been thinking about wealth and its inextricable relationship to freedom and time.
Possessing the freedom to do what you love with people you respect and enjoy is a principal measure of wealth. The freedom to nurture strong relationships with family and friends is wealth.
The freedom to engage in meaningful work, improving your skills and accomplishing your goals is wealth. The desire to learn, to improve, to grow and the ability to engage that desire with action is wealth. The discipline to nourish your health and well-being is wealth. The freedom to experience new horizons, challenges and joys through pursuit of the unknown and new adventures that sharpen the mind, strengthen the spine and open the heart is wealth.
Growth in character and wisdom is the foundation of wealth. Wealth requires freedom and both are constrained by time.
I am struck by wealth’s many facets and acutely aware of the paradox of freedom and time. And the need for discernment in choosing wisely.
I wish you an abundance of wealth and discernment in the year ahead.
