FINDING YOUR "AND"
Most of us are familiar with and may in fact be living the counsel to know our “why” to motivate us to pursue our “how.” In real estate, we are seeing this philosophy intersect with how people are reconsidering where and how they want to live. Increasingly, more Americans are interested in second homes or splitting their time between cities to enhance their lifestyle. The idea of Chicago and…Park City, Bozeman, Naples, Palm Beach or Harbor Country in Michigan. The list goes on.
A recent Ameriprise Financial Survey of financial advisors who work with high-net worth clients estimated two-thirds of their clientele own second homes—and one-third of those who do not say they are interested in acquiring one in the future. Most purchased their homes as vacation destinations or as a respite from the stresses of everyday life. And it is not just the top 2 percent of Americans with net worths above $2.5 million who are pursuing this path.
The sense of ease felt when leaving the busy-ness behind for a quiet walk along the beach or spending uninterrupted time with family. More of us are looking for our own “and,” whether as an investment, a private sanctuary or as a gathering place for family and friends. I am continuing to see these trends in my business, serving clients who own a primary residence in another market and want to have a pied a terre in the city, be it a one-bedroom condo or co-op on Lake Shore Drive. The reverse is also true. I am expanding my connections with colleagues in other cities to meet the needs of my clients who are interested in investment opportunities and second-home purchases.
More of us are reimagining how we can divide our time between places to enrich our lifestyles and well-being. If I may of service to you in your own pursuits, please reach out to me. I have a network of agents ready to help.
