A life well lived is a life well loved.

I recently returned from a beautiful week spent with my family in our beloved Grayton Beach. My five siblings, their spouses, my mom and 20 of the 22 grandchildren converged in this special place of ours for a week of renewal, fun and togetherness. The first return without my dad who left us last year, whose spirit was felt everywhere in the bounty of warm memories of past visits.

Over the nearly three decades we have been pilgrimaging to Grayton Beach along 30A on the Emerald Coast of Florida, we have created and nurtured rituals that leave lasting imprints on us.

Homes and cottages overlooking the sandy white beach and gorgeous turquoise water. An army of golf carts for shuttling to shops, cafes, restaurants, ice cream parlors or nowhere in particular. Lunches, dinners and late nights at Red Bar. Cocktails and bonfires on the beach with gentle breezes and golden sunsets. Card games and puzzles with the buzz of conversations from friendships reawakening and deepening among the kids and all of us.

A week of carefree timelessness. Our place of bliss.

We all have it. A place that enlivens us. Fills our cup. A place that feels like home. This trip provided a timely reminder of its essence in my life. I am sharing a 30A guidebook Lindsey and I created a couple of years ago if you’d like to take a closer look.
